BUENA VISTA, Amador County — Amador County identifies a mattress-recycling program for eligible residents through its solid-waste system, including the Buena Vista transfer location.
On the county’s Waste Management and Recycling page, the county advertises mattress recycling as a service available free to qualifying county residents. The facility at 6500 Buena Vista Road is identified in the county’s supporting program materials.
Which mattresses are eligible?
County materials distinguish residential mattresses and box springs from commercial loads and items that cannot be safely recycled. Older program documents specifically exclude heavily contaminated, wet, infested or badly damaged mattresses. The number of free items and acceptance criteria may have changed since those documents were issued.
Confirm the current rules
Before loading a mattress, call the facility at 209-274-2237 and ask about the present program, how many units may be accepted without charge, and whether an identification or proof-of-residency requirement applies. Do not leave mattresses outside the facility after hours or assume all bedding products qualify.
The county’s separate household hazardous-waste program handles other materials, and mattress recycling should not be confused with ordinary garbage disposal charges.
