BUENA VISTA, Amador County — The Buena Vista waste facility participates in an Amador Air District program for replacing qualifying gasoline-powered lawn and garden equipment with battery-electric alternatives.
According to the district’s Current Programs page, applicants must seek program approval and follow the district’s instructions to document surrender and destruction of the old combustion-powered machine. Republic Services facilities at 6500 Buena Vista Road and at Pine Grove are named as participating drop-off locations.
Do not purchase first and assume reimbursement
Approval, equipment eligibility, available funding and proof of proper destruction matter. The district states that funding is subject to program guidelines and that incentives cannot exceed eligible purchase costs. Its stated maximum of $10,000 per applicant per program year is a program cap, not a promised award.
How to avoid a costly mistake
Homeowners should check application instructions, approval status and required documentation before spending money. They should ask whether the old equipment must be intact, drained or otherwise prepared for safe transport. A transfer-station drop-off does not automatically prove participation in the incentive program.
The district also advertises a green-waste voucher program separately; readers should not confuse it with equipment replacement.
